Our history

The cable’s history is our cultural heritage, the foundation upon which the company and employees build their common future.

A retrospective summary reveals the furious pace of Draka’s development in Norway. The milestones are many and seen from an historical perspective, the time periods between them have been brief. The closer we move towards the present day, the more frequently changes and turning points have occurred.

  • 2004 Draka Comteq, Årnes, spins off as a separate company. 

  • 2004 Production in Loesmoen is shut down

  • 1999 Draka Holding comes in as an owner

  • 1998 Reorganisation, Årnes, Holmen, Loesmoen 

  • 1994 Reorganisation, Wessel / Holmen 

  • 1993 Reorganisation, Årnes / Bryn

  • 1992 The cable is introduced at ABB

  • 1992 Acquisition of Wessel Kabel AS, Drammen 

  • 1988 Acquisition of Ralocar Condelec, Barcelona, Spain 

  • 1986 Establishment of Norsk Subsea Cable, Drammen / Tønsberg

  • 1984 Establishment of Norsk Fiberoptikk, Asker 

  • 1977 New production facilities in Loesmoen, Hokksund 

  • 1963 New production facilities in Holmen, Drammen 

  • 1933 A/S Elektrisk Bureau principal shareholder

  • 1913 A/S Norsk Kabelfabrik is established
